I am Director of Platform Infrastructure at Zalando, software engineer at heart, and hobby musician in a hobby recording studio in Berlin, Germany.
I like to understand and fix things. Helping people succeed makes me happy.
I buy a bootstrap theme from {wrap}bootstrap for $10 and adapt it. But seriously:
I'm succesfully leading happy and productive teams and departments at Zalando for more than 11 years now.
While developing software is rewarding, I really enjoy learning from people and to help them grow.
I love music. I have built a small recording studio where I like to relax after a hard day's work.
I'm passionate about good strategy. Combined with clear purpose it supercharges your organization.
Here are a few facets that guide and empower me in my work and when making music.
This is my career path. It's probably a little too detailed but I didn't have time to write a short CV so I wrote a long one. I'd like to move away from the career networks which are still much too relevant and this is a first iteration.
Here's what my friends and colleagues say.
"The story goes that Zalando created an office in Dortmund..."
...just for Tim to remain with the company. Tim denies it, because he's modest, but others confirm it as fact. If I were a company, I would create a brand-new office just to keep Tim on my team. His patience, empathy, humility and willingness to keep learning and improving make him a natural mentor and leader to many. I have observed him inspire stubborn and fearful people to open up and change, and I've watched him help colleagues grow into leaders. He inspires trust and loyalty by actively listening to others, carefully considering different views, and then presenting his own observations and thoughts in ways that drive ideas forward. While he does this, he also keeps the bottom line in sight. Tim has helped me increase my organizational IQ by several points, sponsored me in getting some of my goals achieved, and helped me strategize my way through complex situations. I'm grateful to call him my colleague.
I'd love to hear about your ideas! Send me a message and I will see if I can help.
